That’s a Wrap | Fall Career Fairs 2021

ARCO hires the best and the brightest from universities across the country – constructing a team of experts in architecture, design, engineering, project management, safety and business services.

At ARCO, we are proud to offer the resources and professional development needed to succeed. This fall, our team traveled to a variety of recruitment events, including Missouri University of Science and Technology, University of Missouri-Columbia’s Engineering Fair, Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville, Arizona State University Construction Management Career Fair, and even attended a virtual career fair for Cal Poly Pomona.

“College recruitment is one of my favorite aspects of working at ARCO! This season we had the opportunity to visit nine different universities on behalf of ACC and 120+ universities for the whole ARCO enterprise. We invest so much time and energy into growing and developing college students into future project managers in our business. Just as we contribute to their education and development, they contribute to our culture! The co-op students bring so much enthusiasm and energy to our office, we are lucky to have such a bright and hard-working group.” –Ellie Maltagliati, SHRM-CP, HR Business Partner

The Co-Operative Learning Experience (Co-op)

The Co-Operative Learning Experience (Co-op) at ARCO includes a summer internship and a semester of full-time, paid working hours. Each year we offer two co-op sessions: Spring/Summer (January through August) and Summer/Fall (June through December). ARCO works with universities to ensure full-time student status so that financial aid and scholarships remain in good standing during a student’s co-op experience. The co-op experience is meant to supplement classroom learning and to give hands-on experience required to for a career in construction.

Our interns work directly with Project Managers on construction projects for a variety of industries, including: commercial building, multi-family, senior living, healthcare, technology, retail, office, life science, industrial and more. If your college or university has specific internship or co-operative requirements, we’ll work with them to make sure you get the tools you need and the credit you deserve for a job well done. We’ve found the co-op program to be mutually beneficial for both student and company to create the most effective learning experience.

“The ARCO co-op program is a unique experience that provides hands-on learning opportunities, encompassing responsibilities for all facets of project management, while also earning great money. Aside from the monetary gain, the experience you receive in our program is un-matched throughout the industry and will definitely separate you from other candidates during future employment opportunities. Our program carries the weight of 7 months of firsthand learning experiences that will always draw attending on any resume. Our end goal is always to hire directly from our co-op candidate pool, but if for some reason that is not plausible, it will assist in opening other doors within the industry whether that is through networking during your time here, or references following your departure. Summer internships are absolutely fine, but no summer only internship can match the experience you receive from our co-op program here at ARCO Construction Company.” –Dylan Ream, Senior Project Manager

Our co-ops work directly alongside a Project Manager Mentor on the various projects they are managing. The co-op student will effectively work as an entry level Project Engineer on 3 to 5 projects during their time with ARCO. There is no better way to learn how it feels to work in a design/build general contractor than to learn by doing for 6 months.
