That’s a Wrap | Spring Career Fairs 2023

ARCO hires the best and the brightest from universities across the country – constructing a team of experts in architecture, design, engineering, project management, safety and business services.

At ARCO, we are proud to offer the resources and professional development needed to succeed. This spring, our team traveled to a variety of recruitment events, including Missouri University of Science and Technology, Missouri State University, Southern Illinois University- Edwardsville, University of Missouri-Columbia’s Engineering Fair, Arizona State University, and California State Polytechnic University-Pomona.

ARCO is committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments for students, associates, and clients. This semester, our team gave presentations to the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) Arizona State University student chapter, Mizzou’s National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) chapters, and Missouri University of Science and Technology’s Society of Women Engineers (SWE) chapter.

“As we wrap up another successful college recruiting season, I can’t help but reflect how much I enjoy working for ARCO alongside a dynamic team. Our college recruitment efforts require a lot of invested time from our project managers, leaders, and HR representatives. From attending career fairs to presenting at on campus events, we keep our recruiting efforts strong 12 months out of the year. Our co-op program is a unique experience where students work full-time alongside a project manager mentor for seven months. Co-op educations are largely successful as they allow for most students to see an entire project life cycle that they wouldn’t normally see with a short summer only internship. The program also helps open a lot of doors once students are nearing graduation! The co-op students bring a lot of fresh energy to ARCO, and we have been fortunate to be able to work so closely with the next generation of project managers and superintendents.” –Caitlin Montgomery, Early Talent Coordinator

The Co-Operative Learning Experience (Co-op)

The Co-Operative Learning Experience (Co-op) at ARCO includes a summer internship and a semester of full-time, paid working hours. Each year we offer two co-op sessions: Spring/Summer (January through August) and Summer/Fall (June through December). ARCO works with universities to ensure full-time student status so that financial aid and scholarships remain in good standing during a student’s co-op experience. The co-op experience is meant to supplement classroom learning and to give hands-on experience required for a career in construction.

Our interns work directly with project managers on construction projects for a variety of industries, including: commercial building, multi-family, senior living, technology, office, life science, industrial and more. If your college or university has specific internship or co-operative requirements, we’ll work with them to make sure you get the tools you need and the credit you deserve for a job well done. At ARCO, we have found the co-op program to be mutually beneficial for both the student and company to create the most effective learning experience.

“The ARCO co-op program is the best way to gain real-world practical experience, hands down! During my own co-op journey, I was able to gain invaluable exposure to the construction industry and experience in project management. This encouraged me to continue my career with ARCO Construction after graduation as a full-time project manager, and I was able to jump right in on projects because I had the necessary tools already equipped. ARCO has set the standard for company culture and making the construction process enjoyable for both its associates and customers.” –Norbert Stausebach, Project Manager

Our co-ops work directly alongside a project manager mentor on the various projects they are managing. The co-op student will effectively work as an entry level project engineer on three to five projects during their time with ARCO. There is no better way to learn how it feels to work in a design-build general contractor than the active involvement of a co-operative learning experience.
